We had a great Sunday!
This is probably going to be a super long post.
Whitney, Jackson, and I left at 5:30 in the morning to head to Yuma, AZ. Where our husbands are currently doing training or Iraq. From here in San Diego I'd say it is a little over a 2 1/2 hour drive. The drive there was fine, we talked the entire way. We were following direction that I had from my Key Volunteer. They didn't include how many miles, or even a map. When we got there we drove down the street, and on our right side is the Marine base. We keep driving passing every gate entrance. Still following the directions we then turned left, on County Rd 14 I might add, now driving away from the base. On this road we were surrounded by orange groves, and a fields on our right. We couldn't see how this could be the way were supposed to go. Then suddenly there is this little gate to let you into where the guys are based. Just after the fields stop, and the desert starts. When Zach, tells me he is in the middle of nowhere, he really means it.
Jack, was very excited to see his daddy. He was giving him kisses, and for the rest of the day too. It says something because he hasn't been willing to give me a kiss in about a week! We got on the road for their haircut, and to try to find something to do. Jack, was very cute. He was on the far side of the car in his car seat, and Zach was crammed in the middle sitting next to him. At one point Zach, told me to sit in the middle because he was uncomfortable. We didn't get 10 seconds down the road before Jack really started acting up. I told Zach, that I thought Jack, really wanted to sit by him. So, we climbed over each other, and Jack instantly became just fine. He sat in his seat holding his daddy's hand.
We then went on a search for a park where Jack, could get out and go play. We never could find one so we just went to the base housing and used theirs. The heat was really starting to pick up. After we all went to lunch. We got to eat at SONIC! Zach, and I miss Sonic so much since they don't have it in SD. We armed ourselves with our Route 44 cherry limeades, and were very happy campers. After lunch we went to walmart to pick up a few things. Also, something we lack in Ca, it was a super center. We were there for a while just try to pass the time. After that we drove around Yuma just seeing what there might be for us to do. We finally settled on this outdoor mall they have. It is one of the newer things in Yuma, and it is really nice. We walked around, and did a little shopping. Then it was time for dinner, and we had a tough decision to make Logan's Roadhouse or Cracker Barrel. Two more things we lack in Ca. The guys finally decided they wanted a steak so we went to Logan's. It was really very good. Jack, was good all day. He only took maybe a 30 minute nap the entire do so considering that, he did a great job. Then it was time for the guys to head back to there camp. We hadn't seen it before, and it looked like the scenes of MASH. Upon, telling Zach that he then told me I am dork. We said our good-byes, and talked about what a nice day we had . The drive home went pretty well. Jack, slept, but then he woke up, and had a melt down because he was so tired. I had to ride the rest of the way in the back with him.
Today, we are home, and I am dead tired. I think I could have slept the entire day.

Back From Yuma, AZ
We are back from visiting Zach in Yuma, Az. For those of you that didn't know we drove down for the day. Just wanted to put out a post that we are back safe and sound. More details and pictures to follow tomorrow. I am off to try to convince Jack to sleep since he slept in the car on the way home. We are very tired, so here is for hoping he'll sleep in tomorrow due to the late hour.
A good day
Jack, had daycare today. He went early this morning at 8:00. I dropped him off, and he didn't cry a single tear. What a big boy. I then proceeded to come home, and attempt a nap. Blowing off all the things I needed to be doing. The nap didn't really work. I had too much on my mind. Then I got a message from a girl I have been trying to meet asking me if I want to go with her to see this juggler they are having on base for kids. Turns out a group of girls I met at the park are her friends, and will be there too. Even thought it was at Jack's nap time I decided I should accept to continue meeting new people. Then I had to pick Jack up early from daycare hoping he could get a bit of a nap. They don't make them take naps at the daycare, only if they fall asleep. Jack, never ever falls asleep. I went and picked him up, and when I went in he was sitting at a tiny table eating his lunch. He looked up at me smiled, and greeted me with a loud, "Hiiii." He melted my heart. He looked and sounded like such a big boy, and he wasn't attached to a teacher. They said he had a really good day. I was so proud of him. After getting home he only ended up getting about a 20 minute nap. I wasn't sure he would make it through seeing this juggler. Turned out I was wrong. While we watched the show he stood on my lap pointing and saying ball, ball. Then he clapped his little hands as hard as he could. Again my heart melted at what a sweet boy he is. Then the group of us went to the park to let the kids play. It really was a great day.
I am kind of shocked, and sometimes even a little embarrassed at how shy Jack is. He is that way with kids, and now adults too. Then I started thinking about it, and really I shouldn't be. I think he is just like me when I was little. I was the little girl hiding behind my mom's leg. I didn't even want birthday parties just because I knew people would be looking at me and all the attention would be focused on me. I can remember two birthdays where my mom had to drag me in kicking and screaming I didn't want to go so badly. I think this is how Jack is. He might grow out of it, but then again he might not.

Today, really flew by. My days seem to be going by fast, but the week still seems like it is dragging on. Jack, and I went to lunch with a wife of a guy Zach works with. We are all going to ride together when we visit the guys in Yuma this weekend. She is really nice, and we seem to like the same sort of things. I'm sure we will be spending all Sunday with them so hopefully we can become friends. It was such a nice day that after lunch I decided to spray off the truck because it needed it, and I wanted to try to get some brake dust off since our brakes have been making noise. Upon, a closer look the truck really needed to be washed because it was disgusting! I can't remember the last time we got it washed. So, I gathered all the supplies, and let Jack run around without his shirt figuring he'd get in the water. I pulled out the stroller in case I needed to make him sit in it because lately he's been making mad dashes into the street. I got busy hand washing the truck, and Jack did a good job keeping busy and staying close. He is going to daycare tomorrow bright and early. I'm hoping to get him there in time for art. I think I'm going to take my time alone to go join the YMCA, and then finish all this laundry I have.
Stepping out of my comfort zone
I've been trying to put myself out there more this past week so I can meet some new people. I belong to Cafemom, and have for a long time, but I haven't ever done much with my account. On cafemom I've belonged to a group of moms that live here, or have husbands working at Miramar. I've been in the group since sometime in 2007, but it has never really done anything either. Last week I decided to check it, and someone had posted how they were looking for some friends. I decided to post back, and turns out she lives on my street only a few houses down. Yesterday, Jack and I went to her house. We seemed to hit it off pretty well so maybe something can come of this. I am also talking to two other moms that live on the other side of the base. Then today I took Jack to the park and there was a group of moms there that seemed to know each other. They commented on how cute Jack is so I introduced myself. One of the mothers and I exchanged numbers. She lives in Santee, and was hoping maybe we could get together. This is the only thing that gives me pause about putting myself out there. Not driving on the highway makes it kind of hard for me. Something else I need to conquer I guess.
This kind of thing is very out of my comfort zone. I am pretty shy when it comes to meeting new people. Unfortunately, I think this makes me seem cold and distant. So, I am working on being outgoing, warm, and friendly. I also, know how judgemental women are so I hate putting myself out there. I got to talk to Zach, and he was proud of me for doing this. He said he knew it took a lot of effort on my part. All in all I said to him if I don't end up with friends out of this then oh well. I'll just be glad I tried.

Muffins
I wanted to share a muffin recipe I tried this afternoon. It only needs two ingredients so it was really easy.
Heat oven to 400 degrees
Mix one box of devils food cake mix with one can of pumpkin pie filling (15 oz can) Stir to combine.
The batter will be really thick, but don't add anything to it. It might even seem like it won't ever combine, but it does. It would be easier to do with a hand mixer.
Put batter into muffin tin with liners, or without liners just spray your pan with nonstick spray.
Bake for 20 minutes.
They are supposed to be a little more healthy for you because they don't use eggs or oil. I added mini chocolate chips to mine. They aren't as chocolaty as a brownie or cake would be, but I thought they were pretty satisfying. If you give them a try let me know what you think.
Also, had to add I just had a mini heart attack. Jack, was napping upstairs, and I went out front to talk to our lawn people about an issue. Well, I pulled the door shut behind me, and it was locked! I also, didn't have any shoes on. I started to freak because with Zach gone I am super careful about having everything locked, like windows and stuff. I run to our back door, and thank goodness it was unlocked. That would have been bad, and my muffins would have burned, LOL!
