Life at 1572: Socializing

Socializing

We had a break through with Jack, at church today. Let me start by saying Jack doesn't know how to socialize with other babies. We don't really have any little ones around us so it is just the two of us all day. Therefor Zach and I try to take full advantage of our nursery at church to get Jack some time with other kids. We are talking if he has to sit next to, or looks at another baby he starts screaming his head off. So, we've been dropping him off, and then we stand there and spy on him for a minute or two. Every time the teacher puts him down he starts crying. When we pick him up he's all red faced and puffy so he's obviously not been having a good time. Last week the teacher saw us and raced to the door holding Jack out to us; this is not a good sign when she's thrusting him at us after just an hour. This week same drill we dropped him off, spied, teacher put him down, he cried, and we went to service. Low and behold when we came back we look in the window and there is our little Jack playing on the floor with toys I might add, and little babies are within inches of him. No tears, no screaming, just diligent playing. We were shocked, and very very happy. The teacher brought him to us, and he didn't burst into tears upon seeing us. He was all smiles babbling all the way down the hall about his morning. Yes, I know this is a tiny thing, and most kids do this all the time. It was just so great for us to see him being so normal around other kids. Now, next week might be a different story. We'll just have to see. Also, if ya didn't know the Chiefs lost. Boo!

Oh how great he is finally (hopefully) learning to play with others. Don't loose hope. He will get it down and probably be a good play mate. :)

We all know this is a HUGE break thru!!! Good for Jack. Getting closer to the No.1 you will see a lot of big boy things.

He needs lots more exposure to those kinds of settings. Mothers Day Out would be a good idea.
