Life at 1572: First sleepover

First sleepover

Jack, had his first night away from home. He went to Adam and Whitney's house for the entire night. They were over for the evening, and it is kind of a running joke about how much of a mama's boy Jack is. I haven't been able to get a thing done this week. He cries if I even try to go the the bathroom alone. It doesn't matter who is home with him either. Anyway, last night Adam scooped Jack up, and told him to say bye to mommy because they were going to go. Jack, looked a little confused, but he complied, and then started walking to the door. They got him in the car, and down the block. I just kept serving up dinner. Eric, asked me if they were really taking him. They were seeing how far they could get before he would freak out. Well, by the time they got down the block they said we are turning around, get his diaper bag, and we will just take him with us. So, I gathered up his stuff, and met them outside. Then I watched them drive away. My stomach was doing flip flops the entire time. I knew they would do a great job, but I was worried what Jack might put them through.

I told them to call me no matter what if he started to get uncontrollable, and I silently vowed to myself that I would just pick him up at the end of the evening. I kicked Zach, and Eric out the door so I could enjoy some alone time. It was great. I called a bit later, and they said he was just fine. They took him to McDonald's and got him a happy meal. He got a cookie, and they were busy playing, and watching a Disney movie. They said since he wasn't their kid they could spoil him, LOL. As the night wore on I decided I should just let him stay at their house, and if I got a 3:00 am call I'd just go get him. Well, I got my little man back bright and early this morning when Whitney brought Adam to work. She said they had a great night with no problems. He finally sacked out at 11:30 because he just kept fighting his sleep. I knew he would without his bed.

Let me tell you I think it has really made a difference for Jack. I think he needed a little vacation as much as I did. I have never seen him as happy as he his today. Not for a few weeks anyway. He has been so content, and playful. It did him a world of good to get away for a night.
