Life at 1572: New Activities

New Activities

I am sorry for the lack of blogging. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed with the blogging at the moment. I have so many posts, and things to catch up on, and I can’t find a spare minute in my day. We have been adjusting to being a family of three again. Zach has had several days off and half days so we have been filling our days with outings and activities.

We are a biking family now. Something Zach has wanted for a long time, bicycles. Where we live there are so many nice places to bike I don’t know why we waited this long to get them. Zach, talked about them a lot while he was in Iraq, and did his research so we went looking as soon as he came home. We had a previous bad experience with some cheap target bikes. They were falling apart the first day we got them. We decided to go to the Trek bicycle store out here just to have a look around, and to get sized for a bike. We thought we would end up with some of the higher end Wal-Mart bikes because Trek is known to be expensive. It turned out that we found some reasonable bikes at Trek for the quality. We compared them to the other bikes we had been looking at, and there was just no comparison in parts and weight. May is bike riding month so they had some deals. We also got a good discount, and no tax being military. I also felt better knowing that these guys are professionals at putting bikes together. We get a thirty day test ride, and we can bring them back for any reason. We can get them tuned up for free anytime within 90 days so that put my mind at ease. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

We found Jack a nice bike trailer, and played hell trying to get him into it. Poor thing is scared of the world. We tried telling him it was his new stroller, a tent, a train anything to get him in it. He just kept saying, “Don’t want it.” The afternoon we went on our bike ride he fell asleep in the car so we hurriedly got him into the trailer and strapped him in as he was waking up. He freaked out a little bit, but once Zach got going he loved it. He was yelling, “I’m riding bikes!” We ended up doing a 6 mile bike ride around the lake. I haven’t been on a bike since I was a kid. I may have overdone it a little, but we had a great time. I’m looking forward to riding along the coasts and the beaches. We hope to take them with us on Sundays, and ride them along the bay after church.

Glad to see the helmets, Zach you hsve one too, right?
I can see Jack watching "Mary Poppins" or "Cars" with his portable DVD. How many LBS does that go up to, I'd love to go for a ride.lol!
Stick with this, you could see a lot of beautiful scenes as you ride. One thing you are going to have to get a tripod for the handlebars, for the pics, lol!oooxxx

You also need one of those tall bendable flags to put on the back of Jack's ride, so it will be noticed that you are in tow!!

I noticed the GI Joe sitting with Jack, thats funny!! What a life,
if he won't nap-- take him for a spin to fall asleep.
